The aim of this lecture is to introduce a current topic of state of the art research in numerical analysis. We will cover a posteriori error estimators for stationary PDEs, automatic mesh refinement, optimality analysis, and connected topics. Interested students may continue the topics of the lecture via research project or thesis afterwards.

Prerequisites

Only elementary math is essential but knowledge of PDEs is beneficial.
